Cancun, Q.R. — A young man was pronounced on a Cancun beach Thursday by paramedics in the Cancun Hotel Zone. In an official briefing, authorities announced the death of a 22-year-old local Cancun youth.
The young man was swimming in an area known as San Miguelito with two others when the accident happened. City officials have said that at 2:50 p.m., there was a water rescue that involved three people at kilometer 17 of Kukulkan Avenue.
One of the young men rescued, along with a 19-year-old woman also from Cancun, were provided with medical attention on the beach.
The third person, 22-year-old Joshua N, was given CPR but did not respond. Paramedics pronounced the youth at 15:26 p.m. Despite holiday warnings by the city, the trio of youths were swimming in an area where there were no lifeguards.
