Cancun, Q.R. — A 27-year-old man is currently being hunted by Cancun police after the beating death of a two year old boy. On Wednesday, the boy was rushed to hospital by his mother with substantial physical injuries where he died.
His older brother, a six year old, was also hospitalized after being removed from the home by Specialized Group for Attention to Domestic and Gender Violence (Geavig) personnel.
Police in Cancun continue their search for the man, reported to be the mother’s boyfriend and step-father to her two children. Public information has helped identify the man as 27-year-old Gilberto “D”, a mototaxi driver in the area of SM 259.
His unit was found abandoned by police Wednesday afternoon. In a brief statement, local authorities said they know the identity of the man and that his crime “will not go unpunished”.

“With respect to the events in which a minor lost his life and another was injured, authorities have fully identified the person responsible and the location of the areas where he works.
“Efforts are focused on locating and bringing to justice the aggressor, who, taking advantage of the family closeness with the minor victims, committed the crimes.”
The FGE says they have opened an investigation for the crimes of qualified homicide and attempted homicide against two victims. The six year old remains in the care of Geavig (Grupo Especializado de Atención a la Violencia Intrafamiliar y de Género).
