Mexico City, Mexico — President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that the decision was made to create a company to manage the Maya Train project and several civilian airports. On Friday, AMLO said the company Olmeca Maya Mexica will be created to manage the Felipe Ángeles, Tulum, Chetumal and Palenque airports, as well as the 1,500 kilometers of Maya Train railway.
He made the announcement Friday during Day of the Mexican Air Force celebrations where he highlighted the role they play in his administration such as work projects, public safety and the distribution of medication during covid-19.
He said that his administration has worked on strengthening the Army, the Navy and now the National Guard. “It is a miracle that these institutions have been maintained, the Army, the Air Force, the Navy, and now, very soon, we are also going to consolidate the National Guard to maintain these institutions for the defense of our people and for the defense of Mexico.”
He said that the armed forces have been given projects which have turned out to be very efficient and cost effective. He explained that he is creating the company Olmeca Maya Mexica to combine the consolidation of the institutions.
He said that the objective is to “take care of the heritage of all Mexicans who defend what belongs to the people of Mexico, what belongs to our homeland, our nation.”
“Olmeca Maya Mexica. That is the name of the company that will operate the four civilian airports that the Mexican Army will build during this administration as well as the Maya Train.”
