12 infected travelers from Mexico to El Salvador false news says health official

Mexico City, Mexico — The undersecretary of health clarified that information circulating that Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele refused an airline due to 12 people being infected by coronavirus is completely false.

The official explained that on that particular Avianca Mexico City-San Salvador flight, there were 12 young Salvadorans from Chicago traveling in masks, which sparked panic and confusion. The young people were checked by the International Health Unit of the Mexico City International Airport without finding symptoms of Covid-19, said López-Gatell.

For this same reason, none had been tested for coronavirus, making it impossible for confirmed cases as stated on social media.
