Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — A garage fire at a home in Puerto Aventuras was controlled by firemen after a vehicle burst into flames. A parked van is reported to have suddenly caught fire.
The fire was reported at an address on Fragata Street near the Puerto Maya area of Puerto Aventuras Friday.
The afternoon fire was noticed by neighbors who saw smoke coming from inside the home. According to neighbors, the van was parked when it suddenly burst into flames.
The fire spread rapidly, causing concern that it could reach other areas. Firefighters arrived and began working to extinguish the flames that left the vehicle destroyed and the building heavily smoke damaged.
After the fire was out, firemen had the vehicle removed from the garage and the space ventilated to release the accumulated smoke.
Flames were controlled and did not spread to other areas of the home. Authorities are working on a cause for the fire.
