Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Playa del Carmen taxi passenger ended up in handcuffs after an altercation with a driver. The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. when the male passenger expressed an issue with the fare he was being charged after reaching his destination.
The two men began to argue which lead to a physical altercation outside the cab. Within minutes, two other Playa del Carmen taxi drivers arrived at the scene who are alleged to have particpated in the brawl against the taxi passenger.
Police were quick to arrive at the scene near the intersection of Paseo del Mayab and Bulevar Palmas Avenues in Palmas I of west Playa del Carmen. The taxi driver accused the male passenger of attacking him with a rock, hitting him in the head.
The passenger, who was also bloodied, was handcuffed and placed in the back of the police unit. An ambulance was requested to attend to the injured, which included the taxi driver and his passenger, who was arrested.
