Two killed in Cancun after car attempts to void colliding with company truck

Cancun, Q.R. — Two people were killed in Cancun Wednesday after a car avoiding a truck hit them. A man and woman were both killed after being stuck by the car that ended up coming to a stop in the façade of a store.

Preliminary reports say the driver of the car was attempting to avoid colliding with a truck in Region 102 when the accident happened. In his attempt to avoid hitting the truck, he ended up climbing a sidewalk where an elderly woman was waiting for public transportation. She was was stuck and killed by the car.

The car then carried on forward, crashing into a row of parked motorcycles, killing a man. Numerous emergency personnel rushed to the scene where medical responders pronounced the woman dead on the sidewalk.

The injured motorcyclist was being treated on scene for injuries when he too, was pronounced. He was in the process of being placed inside an ambulance when he died. The driver of the car was injured and treated in hospital.

A large area of José López Portillo Avenue was taped off while authorities sorted out the 9:00 a.m. accident that claimed the lives of two. Both the driver of the car and the driver of the company truck were detained by Cancun police. The vehicles involved were towed to the corralón.
