Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Two men were killed and two others seriously injured in a highway accident Saturday. The driver of a company truck is alleged to have veered off the highway and into trees, killing two.
The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. when a company truck from the Commission of Potable Water and Sewerage (CAPA) crashed. National Guard Highways were first on scene, locating the CAPA pickup truck 15 kilometers from the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
Paramedics from the Red Cross confirmed two of the men died at the scene. Two others were taken to hospital with multiple injuries. The two workers killed were riding in the bed of the pickup and were thrown from the truck upon impact.
The truck of workers were reportadly on their way to Tulum at the time of the accident. CAPA (Comisión de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado) Quintana Roo has not issued a public statement regarding the early morning accident that claimed two of their workers.
Police are investigating the cause of the fatal single vehicle accident. The names have been withheld pending family notification.
