Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A pickup and two buses left a section of Riviera Maya highway slow-going Friday due to a collision. The three vehicle crash happened approximately 10 kilometers south of Playa del Carmen Friday morning.

Emergency services were notified of the accident at around 7:30 a.m. after a private pickup truck hit two buses. Both of the buses were left inoperable. One with a significant amount of driver’s side damage, while the second bus was left with a bent rim and flattened rear tire.
The driver of the pickup hit the buses after losing control on the wet pavement. The truck hit the two large vehicles before careening into a ditch where it slammed into a concrete power pole.

The driver of the pickup was reportedly heading south when he lost control and swerved, hitting the first bus that was also heading south. The truck then hopped the center median and crossed into oncoming traffic where he met the second bus and CFE pole.

There were no injuries reported in the three vehicle accident. National Guard officers from the Highway Division arrived to conduct the necessary investigation and arrange for tow trucks.
