Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A physically stressed sea turtle was reported to authorities at Puerto Morelos by tourists who saw it looking stranded on a beach.
Personnel from the Parque Nacional Arrecifes de Puerto Morelos went to site where they found an adult sea turtle with noticeable signs of weakness and fatigue.
According to the report issued by the agency, the turtle was seen by tourists, who after noticing it needed help, called authorities since they did not know how to help or rescue the turtle. Officials arrived and, with the help of hotel and All Tour Native staff, transferred the sea turtle to Xcaret facilities where veterinarians provided medical attention so it could be released.
