SSC announces new State Police barracks for Felipe Carrillo Puerto

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — The head of the State Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) says there are plans for a new state barracks in 2025. According to SSC head  Julio César Gómez Torres, there are plans to build a barracks in Felipe Carrillo Puerto to accommodate 180 officers.

He says the project is scheduled to start next year and will be for State Police officers. The fully equipped building will ensure a permanent presence of police in that area.

“We are going to build a barracks in Felipe Carrillo Puerto. The project is scheduled to begin next year. We already have a plot of land there, but we are still in the process of formalizing the donation to the state,” he said.

He explained that the two-hectare property will house 180 members of the State Police to operate permanently in that area and cost around 30 million pesos.

“Initially, 30 million pesos are planned to be allocated. We are still defining the origin of the amounts to be used,” he said.

Torres says the SSC has the support of the municipality to build to increase police in the area as a “first effort”. At the moment there are only 30 State Police officers in Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
