Speeding PDC driver heading to Cancun crashes into roadway infrastructure at Puerto Morelos

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Civil Protection worked with Puerto Morelos firemen Thursday afternoon to remove a driver trapped in his vehicle. Emergency personnel attended to motorists reports of the single vehicle accident in Puerto Morelos.

At the scene, drivers from Playa del Carmen said the male driver was speeding and passing other vehicles recklessly. When he reached Puerto Morelos, he lost control of his car and hit a containment barrier which caused him to swerve off the highway and into other infrastructure.

Firemen found him trapped behind the wheel of his crumpled vehicle after mowing down at least one metal highway sign. He was heading to Cancun at the time of his accident. He was cut free and transferred to hospital. National Guard Highways monitored traffic while personnel worked to remove the driver and eventually the wrecked vehicle.
