Six Cozumel fishermen rescued after drifting at sea

Cozumel, Q.R. — The Navy of Mexico rescued a group of six fishermen who were stranded for several hours, drifting at sea.

The request for assistance came Monday when the crew reported engine failure. According to head of C4 Anuar García, the call was received via the C4 of Cozumel at 9:34 a.m. when a vessel, Susy from la Cooperativa Isla de la Pasión of Cozumel, said they had been drifting for several hours.

A search and rescue for Susy was implemented. Marine officials located the vessel approximately 20 nautical miles (37 kilometers) from the Maritime Terminal of Calica.

The crew, who were reported to be in good health, were rescued and their boat towed back to Cozumel.
