Tulum, Q.R. — A fire that broke out on the palapa roof of a Tulum home Friday, quickly spread to other houses, engulfing several before flames were officially extinguished.
The fire started in a private home around noon and made its way to other homes, nearly consuming a city block. Tulum firemen were on site trying to put out flames. Locals were also lending a hand by supporting hoses in an attempt to stop the spreading of fire.
The mass of flames created thick smoke that was visible for kilometers. There was no word on the cause of the block fire.
