Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — An Isla Mujeres taxi driver from the Continental Zone was found dead in his unit Saturday. The body of the unidentified driver was discovered on a road near the municipality’s sanitary landfill.
Responding officers confirmed the finding of the body, which they reported had been shot three times. Preliminary reports say the driver of the taxi was intercepted around 6:00 p.m. by subjects in a black Altima while traveling along Rancho Viejo Avenue.
His unit was repeatably shot at, eventually hitting and killing its driver. The occupants of the car then fled the scene. When investigating, police located seven shell casings around the taxi. The shooting was reported by area residents who heard the gunfire.
