Cancun, Q.R. — “Quintana Roo is a success in the management of its public health emergency which has allowed very good epidemic control,” said Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez, undersecretary of Health in his report.
In his daily press conference, he reported that regarding the number of infections, in recent weeks, the state of Quintana Roo has dropped from fourth position nationally to 18th. “This is excellent news for Quintana Roo, which has had very good epidemic control,” said López-Gatell.
“I acknowledge with appreciation the health authority of Quintana Roo, which reduced mobility by up to 85 percent. This is a public health success, not yet complete because there is still transmission of the virus, but very soon they will reach their goal,” he stressed.
The official praised the achievement of Governor Carlos Joaquín González and the Secretary of Health Alejandra Aguirre, while adding that it is very important to continue with preventive discipline to flatten the curve of Covid-19 infections because, otherwise, the possibility of gradually resuming economic activities in June will be at risk.
Governor Carols Joaquin says that it is important to see the gradual return, according to the plan, to the programs that have been generated, but at the same time it is very important to continue with the discipline of social distancing and stay at home.
“It is necessary that we have, in these next weeks and these days, greater attention, discipline and responsibility, otherwise, we will have to take different measures and decisions,” stressed Carlos Joaquín.
Carlos Joaquín mentioned that there has been a relaxation in people, addressing the increase in mobility and the numbers of people out, which he says, can cause a regrowth of infections and a delay in the economic revival planned for the first days of June.
“All this is conditioned on having the appropriate numbers related to the epidemic, which would allow experts and health advisors to open up the possibility of starting activities. That is why the call to stay at home is maintained,” he concluded.
