Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — A local area man was found dead inside a Puerto Aventuras cenote after hitting his head. The unidentified man is reported to have dove into the cenote from a height of several meters.
Upon entering the water, he hit his head and was left unconscious. Due to the hit, he is believed to have drowned.
The accident happened Saturday night when a group of workers were at the cenote on a day off. At the end of the day when they were packing up to leave, they noticed one person was missing.
Specialized cenote divers were called to the Puerto Maya area of Puerto Aventuras around 8:00 p.m. to locate the missing man. He was eventually found floating face down in the water. An autopsy will reveal the official cause of death.
