Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun taxi drivers have racked up more than 350 complaints about poor service. The complaints received so far this year were forwarded to the Andrés Quintana Roo Union Secretary of Labor for the corresponding sanctions.
Michell Alexis Díaz Valdez, Labor Secretary of the Union said the public complaints were made through the union’s Taxi Complaints number. While some of the calls were about forgotten items inside cabs, Valdez says a majority of the calls were driver complaints.
“There are 350 to 400 reports here. I invite citizens to have the confidence to file all reports, whether due to some misconduct on the part of the operator, due to some operator who does not have the proper uniform or due to an excessive rate.
“It is not a nuisance for us but the opposite. It allows us to improve our quality of service and be more efficient every day,” he said.
Michell Díaz said that taxi drivers with complaints are given a warning and, depending on the complaint, can be expelled from the union.
Valdez said despite the large number of complaints already this year, it is a decrease from previous years given that they have 12,000 operators in the Union.
