Cancun, Q.R. — Roadways of Malecón Tajamar have been opened to the public after a judge ruled for the complete opening of the Tajamar Boardwalk.
A judge with the Tercer Tribunal Colegiado en Cancún made the ruling late last week which saw the immediate opening of the roads of Tamajar in Cancun. The city’s mayor, Mara Lezama Espinosa, made the announcement saying that a judge had ordered the total opening of the Tajamar Boardwalk, which was a win for citizens.
“Today it is with great joy I can tell you that the roads to Malecón Tajamar will be open so that all citizens can enjoy them,” she said at a press conference adding “It is a collective achievement to recover a public space for everyone.”
The roads were opened to the public after years of legal battles. The Cancun judge ruled in favor of citizens, obligating the Municipality of Benito Juárez and Fonatur (Fondo Nacional de Fomento al Turismo) to open Malecón Tajamar and guarantee that it remains open and with the necessary public services.
