Police make arrest in Playa del Carmen parking lot robberies

Playa del Carmen, Q. R. — A Playa del Carmen police officer became the victim of theft when he noticed his vehicle was being broken into while parked at a shopping center.

The officer was suddenly called for escort duty when he left the store around 6:00 p.m. and began walking toward his vehicle, instantly noticing people inside, which is when he shot out a tire on his own vehicle to render it immobilized.

At that moment, the two made their escape on foot, while a third person tried to flee in a car. The third person, a female, was stopped and arrested by police. Inside, police report finding it contained stolen items allegedly taken from other vehicles in the same parking lot.
