Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A police chase of two suspected criminals ended up with a patrol unit colliding with a motorcycle in a Playa del Carmen intersection.
The chase by Municipal Police was thwarted when a motorcycle carrying two riders crossed the path of the patrol. The patrol was traveling along Playa del Carmen Boulevard in pursuit of a vehicle carrying two who had reportedly robbed a grocery store.
When they reached 28 de Julio Avenue, the fleeing vehicle ran the red light. Police were cut off at that intersection by the motorcycle driver that resulted in the bike colliding with one car and throwing its passenger into another.
The duo on the motorcycle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
