Akumal, Q.R. — One of two men reported abducted in the town of Akumal Friday night has been found alive. Police located one of the abductees several hours after finding the other dead.
According to the man found alive, the two men were abducted late Friday night from the town of Akumal. Both were subjected to physical beatings that left one dead.
Area residents reported a dead body off the federal highway of Tulum around 8:00 a.m. Saturday near the Akumal entrance. Police confirmed the sighting was that of a deceased adult male.
Approximately four hours later, another man was found by residents of the community of Uxuxubi wandering in the area. He had also been subjected to physical abuse.
Police and paramedics met the second man who was taken to a Tulum hospital. He told police they had been kidnapped the previous night in Akumal.
Initial investigations indicate that the two men were involved in drug dealing. The State Attorney General’s Office is already investigating the motive for the attack and find those responsible.
