Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — At least two dozen illegal migrants were found on a bus passing through Playa del Carmen Tuesday. Police made the discovery in the number 2 filter after pulling the bus over for an inspection.
On board, at least two dozen illegal migrants from Central America were found. Local authorities have not released an official figure.
The bus was pulled over around 8:30 a.m. It is believed to have begun its journey in the far south of Quintana Roo near the Belize border with a final destination of Cancun.
Numerous police and National Guard vehicles arrived at the scene to secure the bus and its illegal passengers. Those found without legal documents were transferred to the Cancun INM office under the escort of National Guard.
