Police capture three in Cancun parking lot murder

Cancun, Q.R. — The State Attorney General (FGE) says three males have been captured for their likely involvement in the murder of a Cancun man. The trio were picked up Tuesday after an investigation into the murder of a man at a plaza parking lot.

The now-deceased was shot to death April 9 inside a Cancun shopping plaza parking area. Three men who are believed to have each played a key roll in that deadly shooting have been arrested.

In a statement, the FGE reported on the investigation that lead to their arrests.

“Due to their probable participation in events that could constitute the crime of qualified homicide, personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), achieved the capture of three subjects after various technological and field research work.

“The detainees were identified as Luis Arturo “N”, Alfredo Antonio “N” and Jesús Gilberto “N”, who relate to the homicide of a male person which occurred on April 9 of this year in the shopping center Plaza Península located on Bonampak Avenue in Cancun.

“This arrest is derived from the search, location and seizure of a vehicle with license plates from the state of Yucatán, which is related to the homicide,” they said.

According to their information, Luis Arturo “N” is accused of driving the vehicle and verifying details in the parking lot — including if the victim was there — prior to the shooting.

The FGE say Alfredo Antonio “N” also surveyed the parking lot from a second vehicle prior to the shooting. Since his arrest, police learned he had an outstanding arrest warrant for the murder of a woman from May of 2021.

Jesús Gilberto “N” is, according to the FGE, the one who pulled the trigger.

The now deceased, had a criminal history of drug charges from Monterrey, Nuevo León.
