Patrolling police happen upon eight extracting fuel from Cancun building

Cancun, Q.R. — Eight men in Cancun were taken into police custody over the weekend after patrolling officers noticed them leaving a building with drums. In a news brief, the State Coordination Group for the Construction of Peace and Security in Quintana Roo reported the arrest of the eight men for fuel theft.

The men were seen leaving a building in SM 307 of the city carrying drums filled with gas. As they approached, they saw a white cargo truck hooked up to a hose that was connected to another hose coming from a wall inside the building.

Police happened upon the group as they were transferring fuel by extraction. For that reason, eight people were arrested. In their news briefing, police detailed that those arrested ranged in age from 29 to 58 and that two of the men, a 41-year-old and a 37-year-old, were both of Ukraine nationality. They were arrested on charges of theft of hydrocarbons.
