Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun taxi driver that was shot by a passenger remains in hospital after receiving a gunshot to his jaw.
The shooting happened to an unidentified Cancun taxi driver from the Andrés Quintana Roo union after he picked up a man who requested he be driven to Las Palmas in SM 259. When they arrived, the passenger then took out a gun and shot the driver in the face. The taxi driver was hit in the jaw.
The driver of the taxi was taken to hospital for medical attention via an ambulance. A witness to the shooting reported seeing a man descend from the unit and shoot at the driver several times with a bullet hitting his jaw.
Municipal police arrived, noting that a message addressed to a person related to the injured taxi driver was located next to the taxi.
