Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A new National Guard base in the municipality of Puerto Morelos is officially up and running. The new base in Leona Vicario houses elements that will provide Maya Train security.

Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz attended the inauguration of the facilities of the First Southeast Railway Security Battalion. She said their objective is to guarantee the operation of the Maya Train and the safety of its users.
“These facilities, located next to the Maya Train station in this delegation, represent a significant step toward building peace in Quintana Roo and Puerto Morelos,” she said.
“With these projects, the federal government is also strengthening tourism and contributing to the safety of visitors and users of the most important transportation infrastructure project built in recent years,” Blanca Merari added.
General Juan Carlos Guzmán Giadans, Coordinator of the National Guard in the Southeast, indicated that collaboration is key to making progress in various areas and there should be no room for isolated work.

The new facility covers an area of 1,680 square meters and includes administrative offices, separate dormitories for men and women, a dining room with capacity for 23 people, a garden and transportation areas.
