Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — The municipality of Solidaridad has donated land to Puerto Aventuras for the purpose of creating a military police station.
City Council handed over property located in Puerto Aventuras to the military police to build an operations base, says municipal president Laura Beristáin Navarrete.
The donated land is located on Avenida Vivero and will be reconditioned to accommodate the military, although it is also expected to eventually also house municipal and federal police.
“We are looking into the possibility of setting up a camp in Puerto Aventuras for the military police. Depending on the size of the property, maybe there is space for the municipal and federal police as well. We are already analyzing that project,” explained the mayor.
Once ready, the space will have 30 of the military police elements that arrived in December in Playa del Carmen, however, that number will increase, the mayor noted.
Previously, the space was a CROC union building, but will be reconditioned to be used by military and police.
The building will become a headquarters for the subdirectorate of Public Security in the town of Puerto Aventuras where it will permanently assign personnel.
