National Guard intercept suspicious cab loaded with illegal items

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — A Felipe Carrillo Puerto taxi found loaded with illegal items was seized and its driver arrested. The arrest was made during a late night operation by the National Guard.

On Friday night, National Guard intercepted the municipal taxi at the intersection of 46th and 61st Streets in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood. The cab was stopped after personnel watched the occupants inside, two men and a woman, along with the driver, try and hide items under the seats.

During the inspection, National Guard found a gun, ammo and cocaine. The taxi was stopped at 11:15 p.m. after being pulled over by National Guard who were patrolling to combat organized crime in the region.

In a statement, they said “the vehicle, a white Nissan Versa with license plate URJ-454-M and registration number 113, raised suspicions when officers observed that its occupants – two men, a woman, and the driver – were attempting to hide objects under the seats.
