Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — More than 50 tons of solid waste has been removed from Punta Herrero. The intense beach garbage removal was a project headed by Mayor Mary Hernández.

Volunteers spent the day picking up coastal garbage that had washed up in Punta Herrero, Isla Pájaros and María Elena. According to Felipe Carrillo Puerto City Council, more than 50 tons was collected during the coastal clean.
The cleaning was carried out through the Beach Cleaning Program of the Federal Maritime Land Zone (Zofemat) in coordination with volunteers and municipal authorities.
Hernández highlighted the importance of garbage removal for the conservation of the environment and the protection of marine ecosystems.
“Thanks to the joint effort, we managed to clean our beaches and guarantee healthier spaces for our communities and biodiversity. We will continue to promote actions that contribute to the care of our environment,” said the mayor.

The program is part of a comprehensive strategy to keep the coasts free of contamination, promoting responsible tourism and the well-being of the inhabitants of the municipality that grows for all.
