Mechanical ride shut down after passenger thrown to the ground

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — A mechanical ride has been shut down by municipal authorities after a fair-goer was injured. The accident happened over the weekend at a public carnival in the town of Noh Bec.

A person inside a chair was thrown from the ride after it detached from its axis. Municipal authorities arrived at the site of the accident where they proceeded to shut it down. The incident happened on a spinning ride call Los Cascos (The Helmet) Sunday night.

The young male rider was treated at the scene by Red Cross paramedics before a hospital transfer. The carnival is currently set up in the town of Noh Bec in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

Local authorities have not commented on if they will be inspecting other rides that are part of the traveling amusement park.
