Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Surveying police in Playa del Carmen were tipped off to the presence of a weapon after they saw it poking through the end of a bag.
Police patrolling in the Villas del Sol subdivision became aware that a pedestrian was carrying a weapon after they saw the tip of it sticking out of the bag he was using as transport. Police reported spotting the young man during the morning hours walking along Azulejos Avenue when they saw the barrel of a gun.
When the young man noticed police, he attempted to run, but was intercepted. Upon inspection, police found he was carrying a loaded AK-47. The young man, who has not been identified, was arrested and transferred to police facilities.
