Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police in Playa del Carmen have arrested a man after he claimed to be a PGR agent. Outfitted with enabled strobe lights, the man was discovered sitting in his parked vehicle in the area of Xcalacoco in the city’s north end.
The vehicle, which had Nuevo León license plates, was seen by police in the beach access point of Xcalacoco Wednesday. They caught notice of the fact the vehicle was without a front plate. Upon stopping to question the driver, Municipal Police were told he was an agent of the defunct Procuraduría General de la República (PGR), Policía Federal Ministerial, even flashing a badge he had around his neck.
When he was unable to produce official accreditation showing him as the officer he claimed to be, he was taken into custody for usurpation of official functions. His car, strobe lights and badge were sized by police.
