Cozumel, Q.R. — A man died Thursday after being hit by a boat propeller while swimming near the Cozumel harbor. The man had jumped in the water from a private boat when a passing vessel accidentally hit him.
The injured man was rushed to shore in a nearby boat by Captain Antonio May from the vessel, Doña Pelusa. The man, who is said to have been in his 40s, was transferred to a waiting ambulance where he was given first aid by paramedics as he was rushed to hospital.
It was later reported that the man had died due to injuries sustained. An investigation is under way. The deceased man has not been identified.
