Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — A Felipe Carrillo Puerto fireman entered a building Wednesday where he located an unconscious property owner. The man was taken to hospital after being attacked by a swarm of insects.
The fireman pulled the man from inside the building from where he had been clearing old wood. He happened upon a large hive that he tried to smoke out, however, the insects attacked him.
Nearby neighbors called 9-1-1 after hearing the man’s cries for help. The incident happened around 4:00 p.m. in the Cecilio Chi neighborhood in Felipe Carrillo Puerto Wednesday.
A smaller swam from the hive could be seen outside the building’s entrance as the fireman pulled the unconsciousness man of the building. It is not known if the fireman performing the rescue suffered any stings.
The victim was taken to hospital where he is reported “to have survived”. Firemen who attended to the report did not specify if the insects were bees or wasps.
