Riviera Maya, Q.R. — President Andrés Manuel López Obrador paid another visit to southern Quintana Roo as part of a weekend work tour. The state of Quintana Roo was on the agenda as part of a weekend circuit that also included Oaxaca, Veracruz, Chiapas, Tabasco and Campeche.
On Sunday night, President López Obrador reported briefly on his work visit to sections 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7 of the Maya Train. He did not make make any mention of section 5 south where a judge issued a stop work order in mid-February.
Due to the ban on government propaganda for the upcoming the electoral campaigns, López Obrador did not hold any public meetings or make any public comments. Instead, he shared a brief publication on his social media where he announced his arrival in Quintana Roo to evaluate developing programs and projects.
“We have been evaluating development programs in Oaxaca, Veracruz, Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche and Quintana Roo for three days. Time is short,” he posted on social media regarding the work tour.
Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama also made a brief mention of his visit posting, “a very productive day of work in Quintana Roo with our dear President, López Obrador.”
López Obrador arrived at the naval air base in Chetumal around 9:00 p.m. Saturday from Xpujil, Campeche. As part of his discreet Quintana Roo work tour, he met with Governor Mara Lezama Sunday.
On Sunday morning, he reviewed the southern Maya Train sections before returning to Mexico City that evening.
