Akumal, Q.R. — The government of the municipality of Tulum has started a street paving project in the town of Akumal. On Monday, Mayor Castañon Trejo gave the green light to start the long-awaited project that will see several residential streets transformed.

“Ever since we started walking through Akumal, a beloved district, you have asked us to pave your streets. Today we are here fulfilling that promise because if you don’t keep your word, you have nothing.
“We are here with actions telling you that transformation is moving forward in Akumal,” Castañon Trejo said Monday at the official announcement.
“The long-awaited transformation of Akumal has begun with the start of paving several streets,” he said. “Every peso that comes in should be reflected in better streets, more projects, and, in short, a better quality of life for all of you,” he added.
The Director of Project Monitoring, Christian Moguel, provided technical details about the project noting that the roads will be treated with asphalt which will ensure that all local needs are met.
He also said that the project will be carried out in compliance with the necessary regulations to guarantee both quality and durability. Moguel emphasized the commitment to completing the project as quickly as possible, minimizing impacts on residents.

Despite potential complications arising from the upcoming rainy season, he assured that every effort will be made to meet the established deadlines. The paving of the town’s streets will benefit approximately 8,000 people in the community of Akumal.
