Island paving project continues on Isla Mujeres roadways

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Work continues on the island’s roads of Isla Mujeres with leveling and paving. Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez says the island’s latest project is around 35 percent finished.

The project, which is being done by the General Directorate of Public Works, reports 35 percent progress in the paving of Perimetral Avenue from Chedraui to La Gloria Park of the island.

Rosalva Carrillo Zárate, the General Director of Public Works, reported that 195 linear meters of scarification work has been carried out on the existing surface and the dirt road on Isla Contoy Avenue.

As for Rueda Medina Avenue, 365 linear meters has been repaved from the corner of Isla Contoy Avenue toward Chedraui.

The municipal official explained that 180 linear meters of resurfacing will be carried out on Rueda Medina Avenue from Fragata Street to Pelícano Street. Likewise, she specified that curbs and sidewalks that were in poor condition or broken have been rehabilitated from Avenida Isla Contoy to Calle Espátula in the direction of Chedraui.

The project will include the paving of a total of 24,500 square meters of roads which will significantly improve connectivity on the island. The project also includes the installation of speed bumps and pedestrian crossings.
