INM officers continue with Isla Mujeres checkpoints for illegal workers

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — State immigration officers will begin nighttime operations in search of illegal workers on Isla Mujeres. After two recent daytime operations, officers of Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) are set to begin searching night traffic.

In recent weeks, INM has been on the island for two other operations in an attempt to locate known illegal workers. INM says they are aware of foreigners working on the island without the necessary legal documents.

During the night operations, INM says four to five agents from the INM office of Cancun will be present and supported by authorities for the location of undocumented island immigrants. The agency has begun a search to locate the illegal workers after receiving complaints.

Already this year, INM says they have located and arrested six illegal immigrants from the island.
