Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A group of police officers have been trained in the use of drones which have been incorporated as official police equipment. The group of officers known as Jaguares were trained to use the aerial device to assist in their police duties.
The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) officers were trained at the C5 Security Complex in Cancun during a three-week course. It is part of the permanent training they receive in the corporation. The C5 Centre will be in charge of managing the aerial equipment.
Operators were trained for three weeks in the handling of the Mavic 3T Enterprise equipment that has the capacity to fly a radius of up to 120 meters. The drones are equipped with three cameras, one of them infrared, and can monitor the most remote places.
In a statement, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa says she ordered the incorporation of drones for support in investigation work and emergency situations as well as monitoring, rescues and crime prevention. The drones will be used in all 11 municipalities.
