Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Municipal officials have begun the groundwork of what will be a new Puerto Morelos police security station. The new station is being built along the federal highway at the Ruta de los Cenotes entrance.
On Monday, Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz oversaw the preparation of the site where the new facilities of the Puerto Morelos Citizen Security Secretariat will be built.

She says the building will be constructed in Superblock 17 on lots 1 to 13 at the entrance to Ruta de los Cenotes as part of the strengthening of the security infrastructure.
The mayor said this project is part of the work plan for this year with an initial investment of 20 million pesos.
“Building our own proper and dignified facilities for our police force is a priority. We are strengthening our police force in terms of personnel and equipment with the goal of continuing to guarantee peace and security for the residents of Puerto Morelos,” she stated.
The new police station is being constructed on a 1.5-hectare plot of land. Blanca Merari said the land was chosen for its strategic location taking into account ample parking, necessary services and access points that allow for an agile response to citizen calls.
She emphasized “the project represents a firm step toward a modern and functional infrastructure that will strengthen security for the benefit of the population and the tourist destination.”

The State Secretary of Public Works, José Rafael Lara Díaz, the Municipal Secretary of Citizen Security, Lt. Alejandro Nava García, the Municipal Secretary of Public Works, Mario Salinas Castro and the Municipal Secretary of Urban Development and Territorial Planning, Rolando Melo Novelo also participated in the Monday work tour.
