Felipe Carrillo Puerto man survives fall from electric shock

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — A man of approximately 50 survived a five-meter fall after receiving an electric shock. The man was working on a pole in the Centro neighborhood of Felipe Carrillo Puerto at the time of the fall.

The accident was reported to emergency serices Thursday around 7:00 p.m. An ambulance arrived at the intersection of 40th Street with 81st where paramedics located the worker.

According to witnesses, the man was working on the pole when he accidentally made contact with an electric cable. The electric shock threw him from the pole. Despite the apparent severity of the accident, he did not suffer serious injuries.

Red Cross paramedics quickly arrived at the scene to treat him, who, after being assessed, was found to be conscious and stable.

“It was a miracle that he did not suffer serious injuries after the impact of the discharge and the fall,” commented one of the paramedics.

The area was secured by Civil Protection and Municipal Police. Authorities continue to investigate the conditions under which the work was being carried out at the site.
