Emergency services rush three to hospital from Riviera Maya highway crash

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Solidaridad firemen were part of the rescue team in response to a single vehicle accident Thursday. Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident Thursday morning where they located the car a few kilometers south of Playa del Carmen.

A total of three people were found with injuries after the driver of the red Swift hit highway infrastructure. The driver was heading south along the federal 307 highway around 10:00 a.m. when they hit the base of a large sign.

The impact left the front of the car peeled back to the windshield. The highway sign broke at its base and partially collapsed, completely closing one lane. Solidaridad Civil Protection personnel were at the scene dealing with the fallen highway sign while National Guard Highways diverted traffic around it.

According to the department of Solidaridad Firemen and Civil Protection, all three injured people were stabilized at the scene and transferred to Playa del Carmen hospital.

“In an immediate response action, our firefighters provided primary care to three people injured as a result of a vehicle accident on the Playa del Carmen – Tulum federal highway.

“The prompt reaction of the firefighters allowed the injured to be stabilized for transfer to the hospital,” the Secretary of Protección Civil, Prevención de Riesgos y Bomberos de Solidaridad reported.
