Drones carry out 84 surveillance flights along Quintana Roo coast

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Another 84 flights have been carried out over the Quintana Roo coast by the Itzamná Drone Group. The group, which is part of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), strengthened aerial surveillance in coordination with police units.

A total of 84 flights were carried out along the state’s coastline in recent days.” These operations included an average of 14 flights per day, with three unmanned aircraft, totaling 34 hours of flight and 366 kilometers traveled,” the SSC said.

In the Northern Zone, air support was provided to the Tourist Police in the Hotel Zone of Cancun, which allowed the arrest of 17 people for street trading without the required permits.

Drones also assisted in the execution of two aquatic rescues carried out by lifeguard personnel off local beaches.

In addition, preventive flights were carried out in Cancun, Lazaro Cardenas and Puerto Morelos in support of the Investigation Group.

At an inspection checkpoint between Playa del Carmen and Ignacio Zaragoza (Lazaro Cardenas), 10 vehicles and 40 people were inspected as part of the surveillance actions.

Prevention and surveillance flights were also carried out on dirt roads in Kantunilkín, Ignacio Zaragoza and Nuevo Xcan, as well as search operations for missing persons in Tulum.
