Driver killed in fatal José María Morelos highway rollover

José María Morelos, Q.R. — The driver of a car labeled as a taxi was killed Thursday night in a highway rollover. The single occupant of the vehicle was found laying on the highway after being ejected.

The body of 62 year old Pascual “A” was found laying next to his car after he rolled it on a section of José María Morelos highway near Laguna de la Esmeralda. Emergency services were made aware of the accident at around 7:50 p.m.

Responding paramedics confirmed that the driver was no longer showing vital signs. The victim was from the municipality of José María Morelos. It is not clear if the man was an active taxi driver.

Municipal Police and National Guard personnel cordoned off the area while awaiting the arrival of forensics to remove the body. The car he was driving was a taxi from the FUTV union.

Traffic was closed in both directions while the accident scene was cleared. An official cause for the single vehicle rollover is unknown.
