Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Municipal Police, paramedics and a group of curious neighbors gathered near a ditch that was filled by an overturned vehicle. People began arriving bit by bit after reports of the overturned car was made to authorities.
The single vehicle accident happened around 11:00 p.m. Tuesday along Lázaro Cárdenas Avenue in Felipe Carrillo Puerto. Municipal Transit met curious residents along the 40th Street scene where they located a trapped driver.
Red Cross paramedics were called in to medically assist the driver, however, they were unable to access him due to the tight fit of the car in the ditch. Police then called a tow truck who used a winch to move the car enough for the driver to climb out his side window.
The unnamed male driver was treated by paramedics for only minor injuries. He was not transferred to hospital.
While a tow truck pulled his car free from the ditch, police interviewed the driver who said he had pulled over too close to the ditch. While pulling off to the side of the dirt road, his tires got caught up in the soft dirt and pulled him in, causing his car to fall into the hole and land on its roof.
