Dozing driver loses load of steel beams on Felipe Carrillo Puerto highway

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Federal highway traffic was slowed for hours after a dozing driver lost his load of beams. The driver of the flatbed trailer was heading north early Monday morning when he dozed and swerved.

Due to the weight of his load, he overturned. Large steel beams scattered the side highway along with his cab and overturned flatbed. National Guard Highways were sent to sort out the chaos and direct traffic during the clean up process.

The accident was reported at kilometer 143+300 of Federal 307 Highway in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto Monday morning. Cranes had to be brought in to remove the heavy steel beams from the roadside. An industrial tow truck was also used to upright the overturned flatbed. The driver was not injured.
