Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Police say they have arrested Fernando “N” for drug and extortion in the town of Puerto Morelos. He was taken into custody from Niños Héroes Avenue for possession of marijuana and methamphetamine.
After his arrest, police said an investigation revealed Fernando “N” as a member of a local criminal cell that not only traffics narcotics, but also extorts local businesses for protection money.
On Thursday, the State Attorney General (FGE) reported arresting Fernando “N” “in flagrante delicto for his possible involvement in acts likely constituting crimes against health in the form of drug dealing and extortion.”
Police said “the capture of Fernando “N” took place at the corner of Niños Héroes and Plutarco Elías Calles streets, where he was inspected, and green and dry herb similar to marijuana was seized as well as a granulated substance with the characteristics of the narcotic known as methamphetamine.”
Initial investigations identify the suspect as an active member of a criminal gang that generates violence. Police said his functions were the distribution of narcotics in the maritime zone as well as extorting merchants to force them to pay “protection money”.
