City Council approves additional public projects for Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Isla Mujeres City Council has approved more infrastructure projects for the municipality. During the Friday meeting, council members unanimously approved the second modification of the Annual Investment Program for the 2023 Fiscal Year with five additional projects.

The approved projects are for both the island and the Continental Zone.

Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde highlighted that in 2023, there has been an important transformation in the municipality with 45 projects in progress and an unprecedented investment with its own resources.

She said those achievements were made due to the efficient management of public resources. One of the approved projects, she said, is a 15 year old request of mainland residents.

“After 15 years, the construction of Avenida Gastón Alegre in the Continental Zone will be able to move forward. My commitment was always to build the highway on the way to the fair and today, we started this dream,” Ricalde said Friday.

Other Friday approved municipal projects include the construction of the Main Avenue of the Loma neighborhood in the Continental Zone as well as public lighting for Costa Mujeres.

Also contemplated is the paving of Perimetral Avenue from Chedraui to the El Cañotal neighborhood, and the paving of the Avenida La Gloria Expansion neighborhood in the Insular Zone.

Last week, the General Directorate of Urban Development, Environment and Transportation, together with the Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (Sedetus) began topographic surveying of the La Guadalupana neighborhood as part of the municipal regularization program.
