City bus, combi collide in Cancun leaving injured

Cancun, Q.R. — Four people were left injured after a Cancun city bus and combi unit collided along Route 5 Wednesday.

Ambulances rushed to the site of the crash along Miguel Hidalgo Avenue around 4:00 p.m. after the reported collision of a Turican city bus and TTE (Transporte Terrestre Estatal) city combi. Emergency personnel arrived with paramedics.

The accident happened when the driver of the bus rear ended the city combi unit, which was carrying passengers at the time of the hit. The Municipal Transit Directorate reported that the accident was caused by the Turican bus driver, 33-year-old Edwin Alfonso, for failing to keep a safe distance.

Paramedics transferred 7-year-old Angel Gael R.K., 65-year-old Bartolomé K.C., 33-year-old Alicia M.G.and 30-year-old Genni Denise N.M. to hospital.
